I spoke at parliament today about the importance of Women in Music! Amazing opportunity to talk to MP’s, the arts council, head of BBC Music & Radio, about my experience with sexism in the industry, why there are less girls in music, what are the hurdles and why women and girls must be supported and encouraged to follow their dreams, try the unknown, break the rules, fall over, get mud on our faces and be ok with it! Music can be your best friend, try it! And know that we are out here advocating for you! Fighting for diversity and funding. My dream is to turn the music community into a real community and days like today make me feel like we can actually make that happen. Keep fighting! Thanks to the @prsfoundation for making our voices heard!
Participating in a round table discussion at Whitehall @houses_of_parliament alongside MPs, music industry reps, funding bodies, grantees, music makers (including legend and light-bearer Carleen Anderson @kayleenkaysandra initiated by @prsfoundation Women Make Music Evaluation – full report comes out tomorrow! #beboldforchange
