Adam Coombs is a composer and multi instrumentalist who has now completed the final stage of an MA in composition at Bathspa University, UK.

He is interested in and influenced by a diversity of musical styles and techniques that include Stockhausen 1960s electronic music, the romantic orchestral arrangements of Richard Strauss and Gerald Finzi, compositional techniques of European composers such as Penderecki, Bartok, and Kodaly as well as modern scores by Bernard Herrmann and Ennio Morricone.

He composes and produces a variety of arrangements for string quartet, orchestra, solo piano, film, rock, and electronica. Recent compositions include String Quartet No1 (Wilder Street), The Russian Winter, a collaborative electro-symphonic concept album for DJ, rock ensemble and 11-piece orchestra, How The Winter Light Fell for String quintet, Piano, Pipe organ and Glockenspiel and Birds That Nest In Pylons Go Electric, an experiment in digital sound processing techniques.

He has composed several piano pieces for short film winning 1st prize for Le Cheval and Oedipus at Brief Encounters International Film Festival (2003/2005 respectively). With the addition of La Descente, they have since been premiered internationally at Aspen (2005), Raindance (2005), Frozen River (2006) and Montreal (2005) film festivals and have received broadcasts on BBC3 and Canal+.

As a pianist and trombonist he has collaborated with many artists including Patrick Duff and Alex Lee (formerly Strangelove, EMI), David Francolini (Dragons, formerly Darkstar, EMI), Jim Barr (Portishead), and Jesse Vernon (Morningstar, Microbe Records, Paris) recording albums and touring throughout Europe.

He also has a recording studio called Skin-Tight recording studios based in Bristol city centre and produces a variety of music for different clients that include rock, indie, americana, folk, dance and film score.
