Established in 1993 by Artistic Director Liv Lorent, balletLORENT is one of the UK’s most distinctive dance companies constantly touring the UK with an exciting range of work for audiences of all ages.
Easily one of the most interesting female choreographers in the world today, Liv Lorent produces quirky, emotive dance theatre that always manages to engage both your heart and your head
The List

Between 2012 and 2015 Arts Council England will support balletLORENT to deliver a programme of work for audiences of all ages in diverse settings with exciting collaborations. This will include a national touring programme of Rapunzel; our new fairytale for family audiences. Collaborators include: Carol Ann Duffy, Poet Laureate; Murray Gold; Phil Eddolls; Michele Clapton; Malcolm Rippeth and Lesley Sharp. In 2013 balletLORENT will celebrate it’s 20th anniversary with the remounting of one of the company’s signature works The Ball.

We will continue to deliver dance education of the highest standard to children and adults in the North East, across the UK and beyond. balletLORENT will continue to create the fantastical, the beautiful and the heartfelt, as it has done for the last 20 years. This is dance that deliberately seeks not to mystify or alienate. This is dance made in the North East of England and toured all round the UK as well as meeting an increasing international demand.

‘It is rare for a contemporary dance company to aim for direct expressions of qualities such as tenderness, wonder and warmth; but you sense them in the work of Liv Lorent and that makes her a natural to create a piece for children.’
