Jobina Tinnemans: The Composers’ Fund
Jobina Tinnemans’ work is located at the nexus of electronics, classical music and contemporary art . She studied Design in Eindhoven, lived intermittently in Amsterdam and London and permanently moved to the UK in 2007 spending the decade living on a remote clifftop in Pembrokeshire. Her breakthrough came in 2013 when she was selected for the MATA festival for young composers in New York. Since then her career has seen international demand in countries including Iceland, USA and the Nordic and Baltic countries. Her current series of works focuses on rethinking sheet music in its broadest sense and has lead to the development of a panoramic scoring technique.
The Composers Fund supports me to invest time in increasing the promotion and performance of existing works, to start new (inter)national collaborations and to assist in fees for performers. After an extensive time of working (inter)nationally on innovative commissions, many surround sound on-location performances difficult to capture digitally, I’m specifically focusing on releasing music in audio format and in notated form. As part of my series of works rethinking sheet music, I developed panoramic scores which integrate a strong visual, architectural and choreographic aspect into my composing. I’m now supported to develop this notational technique into a monumental production.
