Lynne Plowman: The Composers’ Fund

Lynne Plowman, based in Wales, composes music ranging from delicate solos to dramatic large-scale vocal, theatrical and orchestral works.

In 2003, she won a British Composers Award for her first opera, Gwyneth and the Green Knight, described in the Times as “One of the most brilliantly accomplished new operas I have heard in many a year”.

A ‘Creative Wales Award’ in 2012 enabled Lynne to develop her orchestral writing –  Catching Shadows was premiered by the BBC National Orchestra of Wales. “The result is a thrilling muscularity and sureness of design.” (Wales Arts Review, 2016)

Funding will support the international promotion of Lynne’s four existing operas and other key works and allow her time to work towards a a major new opera/music-theatre piece that is in development.
