Over the course of the last seven years independent producers Cry Parrot have taken the lead as one of Scotland’s foremost promoters of adventurous live music, providing a platform for a countless slew of new local and international acts.

With funding from PRSF, the Cry Parrot programme of events in 2014-15 will be delivered to it’s full potential. Cry Parrot will dedicate the funds to presenting world-class productions and engaging new audiences for both their own work and the artists they support.

The programme features a sizzling, eclectic array of both local and international live acts. Already confirmed are a new audiovisual commission by Grouper (aka Liz Harris) and Paul Clipson, the launch of the new Bill Wells album as part of the Glasgow Jazz Festival, a new immersive musical installation by Manchester free group part wild horses mane on both sides, Scottish debut performances from Demdike Stare, Rashad Becker, Lovers Ritual (Ilan Volkov & Maya Dunietz) and Kevin Drumm; not to mention appearances from some of Scotland’s most vibrant underground acts.

Established by Fielding Hope in 2007, Cry Parrot have produced events of all shapes and sizes. They have collaborated and commissioned events with Cafe Oto (London), Glasgow Film Festival, Suoni Per Il Popolo (Montreal), MADE Festival (Sweden), GI Festival and Dundee Contemporary Arts. They currently co-curate annual experimental music festival ‘Counterflows’ and are the founders and curators of ‘Music Language Festival’, an annual multi-venue Glasgow-based festival celebrating the creativity and diversity of Scotland’s underground music scene.
