Renowned composer and conductor James MacMillan has invited world class musicians to his new festival of music in the Ayrshire town of Cumnock, where he grew up. This new festival will seek to grow new audiences for classical music by bringing new and old music to the local community, and engaging with local schoolchildren and their families, as well as attracting concertgoers from further afield to this beautiful and undiscovered part of Scotland. The first festival on 2 – 5 October will feature The Sixteen, the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and Nicola Benedetti.
