Teleman: International Showcase Fund (Eurosonic 2017)

With debut album Breakfast (2014) London four-piece Teleman announced their arrival to across-the-board critical claim. Their sound has been described as Robert Wyatt meets the Pet Shop Boys meets The Velvet Underground. Some hear Kraftwerk and others Blur. Confusing references maybe, but ones that probably reflect the uniqueness of their sound. What most people agree on is the wonderful English story-telling nature of Tom Sanders’ lyrics reminiscent of the great Ray Davies. Having spent much of 2014 on the road touring with the likes of Metronomy, Franz Ferdinand and Conan Mockasin the band then went into the studio with producer Dan Carey and emerged in early 2016 with new album Brilliant Sanity. It is an album that appears fastidiously and impeccably made, but also charged with joy. Brilliant Sanity was released 8th April on Moshi Moshi Records.
