Luke Jackson: International Showcase Fund (Folk Alliance International)

Luke is a young roots singer songwriter from Canterbury in Kent who, after bring nominated for 2 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards in 2013, has been building an enviable reputation as a live performer across the UK and mainland Europe.

Having been likened to luminaries such as Jeff Buckley (by Mark Radcliffe of BBC Radio 2) and Richard Thompson (Acoustic Magazine said “Every so often a new voice emerges, one so stunning that it knocks you sideways. Jackson has been compared to a young Richard Thompson and for once these are not empty words”) – and even Kent’s answer to Rufus Wainwright – he has rapidly made a name for himself on the acoustic roots scene with an outstanding voice, songwriting skills and stage presence that completely belie his years.

He’s toured extensively in Belgium, The Netherlands and Germany as well as the UK, and played Festivals the length and breadth of the country and 2016 saw his first visit to Folk Alliance.

He released his 4th album, “Tall Tales and Rumours” in November which has received a plethora of fantastic reviews including his second 5 star review from Maverick magazine!
