Activity: Initially Fyfe will use the Momentum Music Fund grant to facilitate writing and producing his second album. The grant will give him greater to scope to collaborate in writing, production and mixing and build on the quality of his debut release Control. It will also allow him to make the first steps in launching the record in 2016 through a planned single release and live shows.

‘It feels like the perfect time to be receiving this funding as I finish my second album and with my team, plan the start of the next cycle. At a time when it’s becoming harder than ever to make music a viable career, it’s a real privilege to be chosen as a Momentum Music Fund artist. I’m really excited about this next stage of my career and I know that this backing is going to enable me to step up every aspect of what I do.’

Biog:

Fyfe is the immersive solo project from Londoner Paul Dixon. His debut album Control was released in March 2015, and followed the acclaimed singles ‘Solace’, ‘For You’ and ‘Holding On’. After initially causing an on-line stir with a string of Hype Machine Top 5s and a few million SoundCloud plays, Fyfe’s music quickly picked up support from more mainstream channels with radio support across R1, R2, 6Music and XFM and a chorus of acclaim from journalists, both on and offline.

Control is the sound of an artist taking firm hold of the reins and then finding the confidence to let them go again, and this dynamic carries through to his incredible live shows, as evidenced at festivals across the UK and mainland Europe as well as support slots for SOHN, London Grammar, Cloud Control, Foxes and Dan Croll.

Control was almost 100% written, played, sung, recorded, produced and mixed by Fyfe alone. Now immersed in the studio working on his second album, there are already signs that this may be a more collaborative affair. There are exciting times ahead.
