HowTheLightGetsIn, the world’s largest philosophy and music festival, is back this year in Hay-on-Wye (South Wales) to tackle our 2016 theme ‘The Known, the Strange and the New’. Over the ten-day festival period, some of the world’s sharpest minds will be joined by musicians, poets and artists to offer interdisciplinary and experimental perspectives on the biggest issues of our time.

The music programme at HowTheLightGetsIn is one of the most extensive, varied and exciting on offer. This year, with the support of PRS for Music Foundation, HowTheLightGetsIn is showcasing some of the best and brightest in emerging talent, alongside more established names like Ghostpoet, King Charles, Gilles Peterson and Eska. With a mix of electric and acoustic music, and a host of comedians, poets and cabaret performers, audiences will experience an incredibly diverse range of acts. Meanwhile, our Festival Live programme showcases up-and-coming artists and local performers, giving them an opportunity to perform to new audiences and increase their followings. With 270 live music performances over the course of the festival, there is bound to be something for everyone!

HowTheLightGetsIn is a festival like no other. This year there are debates with Nobel Prize-winners, talks by provocative new thinkers and one of the most diverse music programmes on the festival circuit.
