International Guitar Festival (IGF) is Europe’s leading organisation for guitar, having commissioned over 75 new works and promoted over 250 premieres. Involving young guitarists and young composers in its work is key as is finding new audiences. All three areas are neglected by the UK music establishment which hardly commissions any work for guitar and gives few opportunities to young guitarists.

CATALYST combines all three elements: new work will be created and performed on our Young Artist Platform (YAP) for classical guitarists and Tomorrow People Platform (TPP) for popular contemporary guitarists and singer songwriters. Composers whose new work will be performed include Charlotte Bray, Philip Cashian, Joe Cutler and Joby Talbot. The project will also include an extensive workshop and mentoring programme.
