After the success of her 2014 EP, Julia Biel managed to secure lengthy European tour dates, as well as regular airplay on Jamie Cullum’s Radio 2 show, including a much lauded session at Maida Vale.

Biel’s follow up album ‘Love Letters and Other Missiles’ has already received much acclaim, with yet more dates across Europe already secured for the coming year. By supporting Julia with her showcase at Rochester International Jazz Festival, we here at the PRS for Music Foundation are excited to see just how far she can go.

In their own words, their expectations for Team Julia whilst in Rochester are as follows: This project is about extending her profile and career into the USA and Canada. We believe that the North American market is a key area for Julia’s music. Her success so far has been built upon her captivating live shows and with this showcase at Rochester Jazz Festival, we will get the ball rolling for a continued push for her live career in this important territory. Traditionally the Rochester Jazz Festival is attended by very important journalists, media representatives and industry figures as well as promoters from other festivals around the USA and Canada. Accordingly, it acts like a trendsetter for a lot of the jazz market in the USA and Canada. Exposure here can lead to numerous opportunities in the world´s single biggest market for music.
