Mara Carlyle: Women Make Music

Mara Carlyle is one of the UK’s most original and exciting singer-songwriters to emerge in recent times. City of London Sinfonia is delighted to invite Mara to write for and perform at the Orchestra’s Alternative Love Songs themed performance at the Village Underground (Shoreditch) on 12 February 2014 as part of our CLoSer series.

The evening will feature leading soprano Elin Manahan Thomas, string quintet, woodwind soloists and Lute, and be directed by Stephen Farr from the harpsichord. Mara will write and perform a selection of new songs with this line up which will be inspired by and interspersed into a programme of bittersweet love songs from Dowland, Purcell and Handel to the present day.
