The Walter Smith III Project is a new-music collaboration set up by double bassist and composer Michael Janisch to feature the world renowned saxophonist Walter Smith III (to make his first UK leader appearance), which includes a 12-date concert tour (with two masterclasses) spanning the UK and scheduled for late Jan/Early Feb 2013. Both Walter Smith III and Michael Janisch are internationally regarded as guiding lights of their generation as both composers and performers for forward thinking contemporary jazz and improvised music, and the tour will feature a new program of cutting edge, genre-bending improvisational based music.
