Mount Kimbie: Momentum
Mount Kimbie are the English electronic music duo of Dominic Maker and Kai Campos.
Formed in 2008 they released their lauded debut album ‘Crooks & Lovers’ in 2010 following a string of successful EPs. The album would go on to be hailed as one of the ‘Best Of 2010’ by over 30 publications. Their influences range from shoe gaze, minimalist, indie, electronica, hip-hop, field recordings and more to pioneer a new wave of British music often called ‘post-dubstep”.
Second album ‘Cold Spring Fault Less Youth’ was released in 2013 through Warp Records to critical acclaim.
The campaign consolidated their position at the forefront of the international electronic scene; the album featured friend and fellow South Londoner King Krule and before release the band supported the XX on a huge European tour. Following release they dropped an old track made with former Mount Kimbie band member and consistent collaborator James Blake, and in May 2016 their early track ‘Adriatic’ was sampled by Chance The Rapper for his ‘Juke Jam’ track featuring Justin Bieber.
The band’s third album will be released in 2017 following a busy few years of intense recording, NTS radio residencies, international DJ sets.
