Organised Scum: International Showcase Fund
Organised Scum are comprised of London-based songwriting duo Tom Duggins and Sean Canty. Despite having barely set foot outside of the home studio where their debut single was recorded, they’ve still managed to acquire fans at NME, Line of Best Fit and BBC 6Music. Their sound has drawn comparisons to Pulp, Public Access TV and XTC:
As a recipient of the PRS Foundation International Showcase Fund, Organised Scum will travel to New York for Mondo NYC, as well as an additional show at Pianos NYC on 16th September to perform to a host of interested industry representatives. In addition, singer Tom Duggins will extend his stay as he travels to Nashville under invitation from UKTI to attend a songwriting and publishing camp.
“An enigma of sorts thus far, we’ve fallen for Organised Scum’s slovenly but delectable slices of Britpop redux…
[singer] Tom Duggins emits Jarvis Cocker’s wry eye for society’s inanities over a breezy, folk-inflected jaunt.” (The Line of Best Fit)
“[A] top quality combo of stoner-folk, slacker melancholy and svelte indie-pop.” (The Mad Mackerel)
“[H]ints of early Mac Demarco swimming in a sea of Pulp-inspired sweet yet sparse chilled guitar licks.” (Too Many Blogs)
“[Their sound] sits somewhere on the line between Mutations-era Beck and Pavement. It’s almost criminally laid back.” (Notes on Sounds)
