Sir Scallywag and the Battle of Stinky Bottom

Music in the Round

Ensemble 360 and narrator Polly Ives present their brilliant new story-book concert for children aged 3-8. Based on Giles Andreae’s latest Sir Scallywag story, illustrated by Korky Paul, the music and participatory songs are written by Music in the Round‘s Children’s Composer in Residence, Paul Rissmann. Packed with irresistibly catchy songs, vivid story-telling, bright illustrations and lots of audience participation, the concert will perform to family and school audiences up and down the country, introducing children and their grown-ups to live classical music and a wealth of online resources so they can carry on sharing the music in school or at home for as long as they choose.

Paul Rissmann is an award-winning composer who’s passionate about writing music for children and whose music inspires and energises audiences from all walks of life. The exceptional creative relationship between Paul Rissmann, Ensemble 360, and Polly Ives dates back to 2010 and has generated a new canon of engaging music for children. All three see it as a fundamental part of their work. The players of Ensemble 360, celebrating ten years as MitR’s resident group, are members of leading orchestras and chamber groups across the world, and are known for both their exceptional musicianship and their dedication to sharing music with the whole community. Polly Ives leads MitR’s work for ages 0-8 and works with the LSO, Wigmore Hall, and other leaders in the field. Sir Scallywag and the Battle of Stinky Bottom is published by Penguin Books.
