From their home in Cardiff, Music Theatre Wales creates the most exciting new opera in Britain today. They are dedicated to performing groundbreaking and stimulating productions, presenting works that have rarely or never been performed in the UK before as well as commissioning new works from outstanding composers and writers.

Music Theatre Wales believe opera is a living, breathing art. Over the last 21 years, they have worked with a veritable who’s who line-up of eminent composers including Harrison Birtwistle, Peter Maxwell Davies, Michael Berkeley, Philip Glass and Michael Nyman and nurtured the talents of a new generation of composers commissioning works from Lynne Plowman, Huw Watkins, Nigel Osborne and Param Vir.
