It might be something in the water, or the spectacular architecture looking down on Northern Ireland’s second city, but Derry produces musical talent at a prolific rate. And now there’s another name to add to the list: The Clameens. Now all aged between 18 and 19, but having been in the band since school, The Clameens are four boys, including two brothers, who are about to make their home city very proud of them indeed.
Signed to 25 Hour Convenience Store (Gary Powell – The Libertines – label) when some of them were still in school, The Clameens sing about being young, fighting, falling in love and having fun. Their lyrics are acerbic, smart, hilarious and honest. Their tunes will make you want to dance, and drink, and dance some more. Having already supported Pete Doherty and The Strypes among others, played The Great Escape and in more recent times to a full tent at Liverpool’s Sound City 2015, The Clameens are about to embark on a huge chapter of their careers via the support from PRS for Music Foundation, as the band were awarded the International Showcase Fund to play in India. They had this to say:
