For:

Music Programme at Brainchild Festival 2017

Brainchild is a volunteer-led, DIY festival bringing together 2000 young creative minds for a weekend of inspiration. For three days and across five performance areas, we celebrate bold and imaginative work in live music, jam sessions, spoken word, talks, DJ sets, workshops, film, theatre and visual arts.

We want to push forward valuable conversations and develop creativity in all, promoting interdisciplinary work and welcoming everybody to get involved, artists and audiences alike. Started by a group of friends in their first year of university, and built up by friends of friends, the atmosphere is open and relaxed; there are no VIP areas and everyone camps together. The festival has now won the Association of Independent Music’s Golden Welly Award for Best Independent Festival for two years running, in 2015 & 2016 by public vote.

“If Brainchild represents the future of the British art scene, it’s in safe hands.” – The Independent

“Brainchild is a festival that heaves with ambition and potential to become something more. It’s a warm hug that embraces you and leaves you heady with joy and you come away feeling as if you learnt something new about yourself.” – The 405

“Imagine a festival without a backstage or VIP area, imagine camping next to the headliners, imagine beers that aren’t £5 a pop, imagine a round-the-clock cinema sponsored by the BFI, imagine poetry, comedy, political talks; imagine a celebration of ideas.” – Crack in The Road
