PRSF Supports Calstock Arts's Contemporary Jazz Programme in SE Cornwall

Calstock Arts is based at The Old Chapel in Calstock, a former Methodist chapel now converted into a beautiful performance space. With its large picture window beyond the stage area, visitors and performers alike enjoy stunning views of the Tamar Valley and Calstock viaduct, which brings visitors by train from across Devon and Cornwall.

The Spring/Summer 2017 season showcases some of the finest emerging and established performers on the UK jazz scene, all promoting new albums. Dave Manington‘s ambitious new project Riff Raff has been praised by The Guardian‘s John Fordham as a must see gig in 2017. Dave returns in June with Solstice, led by John Turville and featuring rising star, saxophonist Tori Freestone. Winner of an Emerging Excellence Award, trumpeter Henry Spencer‘s new quintet, Juncture takes to the road in May 2017. The season is completed in July by Emilia Martensson, winner of Best Vocalist Award at the 2016 Parliamentary Jazz Awards.

Our new programme also provides a platform for more established performers such as Gilad Atzmon and Alan Barnes. An entertaining evening of tales of life on the road is guaranteed! And let’s not forget home grown talent from the south west – Dorset based Misbehavin’ will be making a return visit to Calstock Arts in May.

Calstock Arts is an intimate and friendly venue, with audiences traveling from across the south west to see quality jazz. With help from the PRSF, our 2017 season sees us exploring new territories for them to enjoy.
