Girls I Rate - Song Writing Weekender Supported by PRSF

EMPOWERING THE FUTURE FEMALE CREATIVES!

GIR Arts Academy & PRS Foundation presents a 2 day song writing weekender for females 16-25 yrs. The weekender will be run by industry professionals, that aims to empower and equip young female writers with the fundamental practices, techniques and key skills needed in their everyday lives as song writers. This includes preparing concepts, song titles, understanding their process and how they can identify a structured and prolific way of writing, as well as a basic understanding of how the business as writers work E.G splits, registration of songs etc.

The Academy focuses on a diverse mix of talented females which encourages collaboration and bring girls of different genres and backgrounds together to learn and support each other. It will also teach commercial music writing across multiple genres of music. At the end of the weekend curators will not only record a professional demo of their work but the works will also be showcased to A&R and publishers already affiliated with GIR.

Our Academy leader, Carla Marie Williams is an established songwriter and mentor and has been working with young people for over 10 years. She has had multiple chart success with A list artists such as Beyonce & Britney Spears as well as mentored & helped develop UK artists like Arrow Benjamin & Melissa Steel and has also worked alongside PRS, Mobo Unsung, Radio 1 Academy and on multiple panels and master classes, and talks within the corporate and creative industries.
