Anglo American songstress Sarah Gillespie has received widespread international critical acclaim for her 3 studio albums that mix folk, jazz and blues with her trademark streetwise poetic lyricism. She has played live on BBC Radio 4’s Loose Ends, Woman’s Hour, Start the Week, BBC Radio 2 and BBC Radio 3 and toured extensively in the UK and playing festivals, theaters and clubs in Europe and America. Described by The Independent as a ‘beat poet for the 21st Century’ Gillespie‘s first collection of poetry and lyrics is published by Oxford’s ‘Albion Beatnik Press’ in November 2017.
Her new album, supported by the PRS for Music Foundation, sees Gillespie join forces with some of the UK’s finest musicians including bassist Ruth Goller, drummer James Maddren and Mercury nominated pianist Kit Downes. This will be Gillespie‘s most political album to date mixing satire and folk narrative with raw urban blues. The project will be launched in London with a UK tour and dates in the US.
