Velocity by Gavin Higgins: Resonate

Velocity by Gavin Higgins: Resonate

About the piece

Inspired by Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring, Velocity is a virtuosic and dramatic work that has been described as a high octane curtain raising fanfare ideally suited to open the RSNO’s prestigious 2016:17 Season Finale, where it will receive its Scottish premiere in May 2017.

About the composer

Described as ‘boldly imaginative’ and ‘extraordinary’, Gavin Higgins has been consistently praised by critics for his distinct and visceral compositional style.  Higgins has worked with some of the country’s leading orchestras, including the BBC Symphony Orchestra and the London Philharmonic Orchestra.  In 2010 he was appointed Rambert Dance Company’s Inaugural Music Fellow.
