Winter Song by Judith Weir: Resonate

About the piece

In ‘Winter Song’, Judith Weir challenged herself to make every player a soloist, as intricate melodic lines are passed throughout the orchestra.  Emotionally, the music takes its inspiration from walking through the difficult days of winter, and the idea that simply keeping going, maintaining forward motion, may lead to better times.

About the composer

Judith Weir is a thrilling British talent. Her operas have been staged by acclaimed companies throughout the world, while she has composed for an array of orchestras inclusing the Boston Symphony and London Sinfonietta.  In 2014 she was appointed Master of the Queen’s Music, and in 2015 became Associate Composer to the BBC Singers.
