Restormel Arts’ exciting programme of jazz takes place in the atmospheric heart of St Austell Brewery through Autumn 2013 and Spring 2014. Audiences gather in the bar area for some of the finest beers and fine wines in the South West before moving into the Brewery Museum for the concerts.

A Jazz Services/PRSF Promoters Award enables Restormel Arts to bring some of the most acclaimed jazz artists in the UK to St Austell.

18 September: One of the flagship bands of London’s LOOP collective – Ivo Neame Quintet – featuring some of the finest young jazz musicians in the UK playing contemporary music.

2 October: One of the UK’s most interesting and rewarding saxophonists Martin Speake brings his Trio to the Brewery. Featuring the guitar of Mike Outram and the masterful drumming of Jeff Williams, this is music of the highest quality.

20 November: Compassionate Dictatorship – “The four musicians are individually strong and collectively exhilarating. The ebb and flow of improvisation between players is excellent. They have a wonderful facility for listening to each other: the outward effect is smooth and alive, sensual, inventive and beautifully cohesive.” ‘The Spin’ review.

26 February 2014: Josh Kemp Quartet  – acclaimed jazz saxophonist and composer known for his melodic inventiveness, warm tone and a heartfelt and lyrical approach to improvisation.

Further dates include the brilliant Sarah Gillespie Trio (27 March), Matt Ridley’s MJQ Celebration (16 April and the superb Mike Westbrook Big Band (20 June).
