The Sonic Boom Series by Soumik Datta

Rich Mix

The Sonic Boom series is a three part project taking place at Rich Mix throughout 2016, curated by Soumik Datta.

The artists slated to take part in this project include Samantha Whates, Blythe Pepino (Vaults), Fiona Bevan, Magic Lantern, Bernhard Schimpelsberger, Manu Delago, Woojae Park, Giuliano Modarelli and Johannes Berauer; as well as series curator Soumik Datta.

Part one will be delivered in partnership with YouTube and is a short film series interviewing and documenting the artists, helping to tell the story of their creative process and their individual style. Part two of the project is geneously supported by PRSF. Offered as a free weekday event in the Rich Mix Main Space, audiences will be able to watch one of the films, hear the respective artists perform a solo set live and finally witness a collaboration of a new song with Soumik Datta. We will then open up the floor for questions and a discussion about artistic process.

This series will focus on eight artists and eight new collaborations and will run through April, May, June, July, September, October, November and December 2016.

Part three will be the climax to the monthly series. Soumik will curate a larger Sonic Boom Festival that brings together all the eight artists, their films and the new collaborations to be presented at a larger standalone weekend bonus event.
