Sheffield Jazz aims to bring the best of national and international jazz to the city, providing opportunities for people from all backgrounds in the Sheffield City Region and throughout Yorkshire, to hear and learn from some of the greatest of current artists.

PRSF and Jazz Services funding helps us to fulfil this mission by assisting us to:

  • book more top level UK jazz musicians such as Kit Downes. Liam Noble and Gary Crosby and give them the opportunity to play their recent works and other original music
  • book a wider range of UK musicians and thereby cater for a wider range of tastes in modern jazz (ranging for example from Sons of Kemet to Ian Shaw) and enable us to broaden our audience and develop its interests
  • book more musicians likely to attract younger people (such as Polar Bear, Get the Blessing and Led Bib) and thereby help to develop and safeguard the audience for jazz in Sheffield in the medium to longer term
  • expand our range of venues by, for example, using Sheffield University Students Union premises, which in turn will help to broaden the audience further.
