Femi Koleoso: Steve Reid InNOVAtion Award

Born in London in 1994, Femi Koleoso began his musical journey at the age of 3 playing the drums at church. At 11, Femi met with jazz drummer Tim Giles for weekly lessons who broadened and inspired his musical taste, then meeting Gary Crosby OBE, seeing his potential and drive who pushed him further into the direction he is in now.

Since then he has become bandleader of award winning band Ezra Collective whilst becoming MD for internationally acclaimed rapper Pharoahe Monch, also playing with former Art Blakey messenger Jean Toussaint and many other names in Jazz, Hip Hop and Afrobeat.

‘The future of this music.’ Tony Allen
