Like the proverbial phoenix, Bears Den rose from the ashes of the critically acclaimed band Cherbourg, whose untimely demise in 2010 left their fans heartbroken and confused. The brainchild of singer/songwriter Andrew Davie and long time collaborator Kevin Jones, this alternative folk band has its origins in the West London Communion collective, which also spawned acts like Noah and the Whale, Laura Marling and Mumford & Sons. The band released the EPs “Last Chapter of Dreaming” and “Into the Dark” and the single “No More Flowers” on Chess Club Records. Following the break-up, Davie retired to an old flour mill near Glasgow, where he wrote a batch of intimate and personal material. He and Jones then enlisted the help of talented multi-instrumentalist Johannes Refsdal, and Bears Den was born. The band are now signed to taste-making Communion Records (Michael Kiwanuka, Ben Howard, Gotye), and are looking to raise a few eyebrows at SXSW 2012 and on the Austin to Boston Tour.
