Spinning Coin: International Showcase Fund (SXSW)

Spinning Coin are an independent rock group from Glasgow. Their roots are all over the place but a simple love of playing together in their rehearsal space, and a policy of almost never turning down shows, has seen them integrate a lucid group sound in almost no time at all, becoming an important part of the UK’s DIY live music scene. Drummer Chris White is part of the Winning Sperm Party collective, who document a world of shadowy Glasgow music running all the way from the Glasgow Music Collective to Fuzzkill Records. All the other members of Spinning Coin – Sean Armstrong, Cal Donnelly and Jack Mellin see themselves as primarily coming from this scene.
The showcase will coincide with the release of the band’s debut album on Domino Records. Performing at this event will enable American label ‘Domino US’ to promote the band at press, radio and online in North America.
The band also seek to attract a North American agent and North American management in order to boost their potential in the world’s largest market for popular music.
As Spinning Coin are a band with potential international appeal and have an already established North American record label, this event would facilitate the opportunity to attract other key members of the band’s team.
