Folly Rae

_Tiger_Head
Born in Hemel Hampstead but with Norwegian extraction, Folly Rae (real name Rachel Virtue) trained as a classical dancer before deciding it was her love for music that she wanted to pursue. She studied at Guildford based music college ACM, but was thrown out just a year into her course. As Folly cheekily explains “I won’t go into too much detail but let’s just say we all do silly things…looking back, getting chucked out of school was a blessing in disguise as it forced me to get my hustle on!

Shortly after her return home Folly found herself penning records for various artists, growing her reputation as a lead vocalist in the process. After creating some ripples in the underground live music scene she eventually started working with Sticky Studios, the team behind artists such as Ed Sheeran & Paloma Faith. The team produced her first few songs which gained support from the likes of BBC Radio 1, i-D Mag and BBC 1Xtra. Having been supported by the likes of Huw Stephens, MistaJam and Charlie Sloth Folly is steadily building momentum towards the release of her long-awaited follow up EP due for release this summer.
