The McCormack & Yarde Duo

Pianist Andrew McCormack and saxophonist Jason Yarde are arguably two of the UK’s finest, most sensitive and resourceful musicians, sharing common experiences from touring around the world in top Jazz ensembles to writing orchestral scores for the likes of the LSO. These supremely creative composer/performers have been at the forefront of contemporary music in the UK for over 10 years – this is Chamber Jazz at its most elegant!

Andrew and Jason kicked off their partnership with a gig at London’s Vortex club in 2008  building on a musical association that stretches back to the mid nineties. They now have two albums under their belts – the acclaimed debut, ‘MY Duo’ (JoY aNd EaRs) and the brand new recording, ‘Places and Other Spaces’ (Edition).

With support from the PRSF the McCormack & Yarde Duo was able to make it’s very first trip to the USA, not only performing as part of the specially selected ‘Made In Britain’ series at the XEROX Rochester International Jazz Festival but also making a special showcase performance at the JazzWeek Radio Summit – an industry seminar with radio and media delegates from all across the States.

“The partnership between Yarde and McCormack is so unmistakably fuelled by the reflexive spirit of jazz…It’s a wonderful jazz conversation…”.

John Fordham The Guardian
