Beverley Folk Festival

Beverley Folk Festival were awarded the David Bedford Music Education Award in the April 2013 round of funding for Organisations and Groups for their special project commemorating the 30th anniversary of the festival.

They have commissioned composer and guitarist Eduardo Niebla to write a new piece inspired by their region to be premiered at the festival by Eduardo Niebla,Carl Herring, Roberto Ares, local musicians including a brass band, adult and children’s choir and folk musicians.

Speaking about receiving the award Chris Wade from Beverley Folk Festival told us:
“We feel very honoured and humbled to be the 5th recipient of the David Bedford Music Award. We always strive to provide young people, and the local community in which we operate, with opportunities to become involved in creative projects. These give them an extraordinary experience and great inspiration to take forward in their lives, and to pass on to others. We hope that will achieve some of the things that David Bedford would have aimed to do and that he would have appreciated our work”.
