Eligibility and criteria

We are looking for projects which:

  • contain distinctive, adventurous and exceptional music
  • will be performed to the highest standard in at least three different locations, two of which must be at the scheduled weekend showcases in London and Hull
  • demonstrate an imaginative approach to learning, participation and reaching new audiences
  • can illustrate how their involvement could contribute to the weekend showcase celebrations at the weekend showcase celebrations in Hull and London
  • relate to the themes of Hull City of Culture (Made in Hull, Tell the World, Roots ‘n’ Routes and Freedom) and/or fit with the programme’s vision to celebrate the breadth and talent of those making new music in the UK, reaching new audiences through imaginative programming.

 

Projects must:

  • be performed at least three times, once in the lead organisation’s region and also at the weekend events at Hull City of Culture (1st – 2nd July 2017) and London Southbank Centre (8th – 9th July 2017).
  • feature a living UK-based music creator (either a new commission or existing piece written in the 21st century)
  • feature music which does not exceed 15 minutes in length, to allow for repeat performances and flexibility
  • ensure that the composer is available to appear at the weekend showcase celebrations in Hull and London

 

The programme is not open to:

  • individual applicants
  • companies limited by shares
  • lead applicants based outside of the UK (although international artists / venues / organisations can be included as partners)
  • applications for equipment purchase
  • organisations that have been running for less than 18 months
  • British artists no longer permanently resident in the UK
  • UK-based artists who are members of a collection society other than PRS for Music
  • organisations that have already made two applications to PRSF in this calendar year
  • projects funded through New Music 20×12 or New Music Biennial 2014 (previous grantees and composers may still apply, but with a different project)
