UK City of Culture 2013 – Derry-Londonderry

Derry has recently been awarded the title of UK City of Culture 2013. It will play host to a year-long celebration of culture in the city, opening its doors to visitors from across the world. The City of Culture year will be transformational and will leave a legacy of a new story, new jobs, volunteers, infrastructure, businesses, re-energised communities and a vibrant, international city.

Throughout 2013, there will be hundreds of events from art to drama, music, literature, dance, film and sporting feats. The year will be populated with large-scale spectacular events too.

About The Nerve Centre

Neil Cowley will base his residency at he Nerve Centre.

For over 20 years The Nerve Centre has been instrumental in the development of the music scene in Derry-Londonderry, providing full time courses in music production and performance.

In 1998 the Nerve Centre opened their bespoke building with performance space, recording studios and rehearsal space. More than 120,000 people a year benefit from the Nerve Centre’s wide-ranging programme of arts events, cutting edge projects, creative learning centres, training opportunities, and state-of-the-art production facilities.

A successful social economy enterprise, the Nerve Centre employs more than 40 staff at sites in Derry-Londonderry and Belfast.
