The Comet is Coming, Jamie Isaac, Ms Banks, Our Girl and Jalen N’Gonda among the latest 16 artists to receive Momentum Music Fund support

PRS Foundation, the UK’s leading funder of new music and talent development, together with Arts Council England, Spotify and PPL, announces today (24 January 2017) the 16 artists that have been supported in the latest round of Momentum Music funding.

The 16 artist are:

Cattle & Cane – 2nd album recording and marketing

Champion – Debut album release, marketing and tour

Darq E Freaker – Debut album release and tour

Jalen N’Gonda – Single marketing and UK headline tour

Jamie Isaac – UK Tour

Jammz – 3 single releases

Jaykae – EP release, marketing and tour

Jerry Williams – EP recording, release, marketing and tour

Meadowlark – Debut album release marketing

Mista Silva – Album recording, marketing and tour

Ms Banks – Recording, marketing and promotion

Mt Wolf – PR, marketing, tour, and music video production

Nubiyan Twist – Album recording and release

Our Girl – Debut album recording, release and tour

The Comet is Coming – 2nd album writing and recording

Wildwood Kin – EP and single recording, marketing, video production and tour

Momentum supported, and Mercury Prize nominated, The Comet is Coming said, “So excited to be awarded the Momentum Music Fund which will be supporting us as we create our new album. This is an incredible opportunity for us to show our full potential and put everything we have into a musical journey beyond our imagination!”

The huge demand for our latest deadline demonstrates how crucial access to investment is at tipping point in artists’ careers.”

Peter Leathem, Chief Executive of PPL commented: “We are very excited to be able to work with the PRS Foundation to support the Momentum Music Fund for the first time.  The sixteen artists who have been selected to receive the funding are representative of the UK’s diverse musical soundscape and we cannot wait to see what they achieve over the next year.  We are delighted to be able to support them in their career.

Since 2013 the Momentum Music fund has supported over 170 artists, over 80 new albums and more than 100 UK tours totaling over 650 UK live dates. The recent impact report analysing the first three years of the fund revealed that every £1 invested by Momentum has generated £7.46 for the UK music industry.

Managed by PRS Foundation, the Momentum Music fund awards grants of £5,000-£15,000 using public funding from Arts Council England and support from PPL. Spotify, the official digital partner on the fund, contributes additional funding and a reward package containing exciting promotional opportunities and close working relationship between Momentum artists and the Spotify team.

The next deadline for applications to the Momentum Music Fund is 21st February 2017 via the PRS Foundation website. We are particularly interested in receiving more applications from outside of London: http://www.prsformusicfoundation.com/Funding/Momentum-Music-Fund.
