PRS Foundation’s PPL Momentum Accelerator support for Yorkshire artists opens again for applications

We’re excited to reveal that our PPL Momentum Accelerator fund, in partnership with Music:Leeds’ “Launchpad” and with support from Arts Council England, is open again for applications from talented artists based in Yorkshire.
PPL Momentum Accelerator launched in Yorkshire in 2020, offering support of up to £5,000. Three artists received funding in the first round, and this second round will offer funding to a further three artists.
Yorkshire based artists can find out more information and apply for the PPL Momentum Accelerator via PRS Foundation’s website here. The deadline to submit applications is 1st March 2021 at 6pm.
Music:Leeds’ “Launchpad” offers opportunities and support for emerging artists, musicians, producers, bands, composers and industry professionals in the Yorkshire region. PPL Momentum Accelerator provides crucial support for exciting artists with a growing fanbase, currently working to establish a music industry team.

In our inaugural round three exciting music creators, English Teacher, Harkin and Simeon Walker received this timely support to enable them to develop their talent and progress their careers to that next level. It’s fantastic to be building on the programme and our relationship with PRS Foundation’s Talent Development Partner organisations to continue to strategically invest in talented music creators outside of London with varied and targeted support.”

To support this the PPL Momentum Yorkshire Accelerator funded three up-and-coming local artists in 2020, helping them to develop their careers through new music or promotion. PPL is proud to once again support artists in the region, offering three more acts the chance to receive significant funding to develop their careers and showcase the quality of music the region has to offer.”
Managed by PRS Foundation, the full PPL Momentum Music Fund awards grants of £5,000-£15,000 using funds from PRS Foundation, PPL, Creative Wales, Arts Council of Northern Ireland and Invest Northern Ireland. Spotify, the official digital partner of the Fund, contributes additional funding and a reward package containing exciting promotional opportunities and a close working relationship between Momentum artists and the Spotify team.
Music:Leeds ensures that grant support will be offered to talented Yorkshire based artists. Launchpad and PRS Foundation’s targeted PPL Momentum Music funds for Yorkshire have been made possible thanks to support from Youth Music and using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England, Leeds 2023, arts@leeds, and PRS Foundation’s Talent Development Partner network.
The next deadline for the current round of the full PPL Momentum Music Fund is 15th February at 6pm.
Since launching in April 2013, Momentum has supported 430 artists and has invested over £4.1m. Based on the 5 Years of Momentum Report (2013-18), this means Momentum has:
- Supported more than 250 albums
- Over 280 UK Tours and over 1,500 live dates
- Generated over £21m for the UK music industry and UK economy.
PRS Foundation and Arts Council England initiated The Momentum Music Fund in 2013. Arts Council England originally established the need for this specific fund and supported the programme from 2013-18.
