9 out of the 12 Mercury Prize 2022 nominees have had PRS Foundation support
Following the announcement of the albums of the year for the Mercury Prize 2022 we are delighted to see that 9 of the 12 nominated artists – Fergus McCreadie, Gwenno, Joy Crookes, Kojey Radical, Little Simz, Nova Twins, Sam Fender, Self Esteem and Yard Act – have all received support from PRS Foundation at key points in the development of their careers. Latest Open Fund and Women Make Music grantees announced
This month we announced the support of 22 exciting new music projects through our Open Fund for Music Creators including from David Lyttle, Jasdeep Singh and Ruth Lyon, 19 through our Women Make Music fund including Kemi Ade, Maz O’Connor and Tonia Ko and 21 through our Open Fund for Organisations including Aurora Orchestra, English Folk Expo, Scottish Music Centre and Vortex. Latest Composers’ Fund, PPL Momentum and Hitmaker grantees announced
Through May, June, July and August we announced the recent grantees from three of our Next Steps initiatives with 7 Composers’ Fund grantees including Seckou Keita and William Mival, 9 PPL Momentum Music Fund grantees including Kelli-Leigh and SIPHO and 9 Hitmaker grantees including 3lackondabeat and The Melody Men.

 

POWER UP Year 2 Participants announced and Year 1 findings
Recently we revealed the talented Black music creators and industry professionals and executives who make up the 40 POWER UP Participants for Year 2 of the programme. Additionally we highlighted the impact and successes from the first year of the initiative including Participant award wins, domination of playlists and lineups and the taking up of senior and Board positions across the industry.

We also announced new partnerships with Arts Council of Wales and Paul Hamlyn Foundation and shared key findings including the need for a more urgent approach to tackling anti-Black racism in all sectors while calling for support from the largest players in music. Read more.

Latest PRS Foundation Opportunities

Targeted PPL Momentum Accelerator support for Wales-based music creators launched
We’ve partnered with Arts Council of Wales to bring our targeted PPL Momentum Accelerator support to talented artists and music industry professionals based in Wales. PPL Momentum Sbardun | Accelerator will offer grants of up to £5,000 to seven talented Wales-based artists as well as support of up to £2,000 available to Wales-based future music industry professionals to develop their skills and careers. Beyond Borders returns for applications
Our UK and Republic of Ireland collaborative touring initiative, Beyond Borders, has re-opened for applications from organisations, music groups and composers. Beyond Borders supports high quality co-commissions and tours, stimulating collaboration between composers, performance groups and music organisations across the four UK countries and, since 2014, the Republic of Ireland. Funding of up to £15,000 is available for projects that include new commissions, recordings and repeat performances of music written in the past five years. Read more.

 

Resonate database refreshed and open for applications from orchestras
Our Resonate initiative in partnership with the Association of British Orchestras (ABO) and BBC Radio 3 to encourage professional orchestras to programme into their repertoire the best pieces of UK orchestral music from the past 25 years, has re-opened for applications from UK Orchestras with a new look and updated database of works. Support of up to £10,000 is available to UK orchestras who want to rehearse, programme, tour or promote a piece of music from the Resonate database. Read more.

• Come Play With Me are looking for women and LGBTQ+ musicians and artists in Yorkshire to apply for their latest Artist Call Out opportunity.
