shesaid.so to be Official Mentorship Partner for POWER UP Participant Programme

Following previous mentorship scheme success, we are excited to announce shesaid.so as the Mentorship Partner for the POWER UP Participant Programme.

The POWER UP Participant Programme, developed in Summer 2020 and announced in February 2021 Programme is designed to elevate exciting Black music creators and industry professionals and address barriers for those at crucial career stages, with an annual selection of twenty music creators and twenty executives and industry professionals.

In alliance with the Black Music Coalition, the Power Up Movement will set targets and apply industry pressure to increase Black representation, empower and advocate for Black talent and industry professionals, consequently influencing policy and shaping the future of the music.

she.grows was first launched in 2017 as a four month pilot programme in London. In the 4 years of its inception, shesaid.so has worked with the likes of Sonos, YouTube Music, Keychange and ADE, and successfully paired over 100 mentors/mentees worldwide. We strongly believe in the power of mentorship and paying it forward. Our community thrives with each of our members’ successes. If you grow, we grow. That’s why we developed she.grows: to encourageour members to share information and resources.

With Chi Chi Nwakodo (shesaid.so/Sony ATV) leading this particular programme, we are thrilled to be working as POWER UP’s Mentorship Partner.

“As an organisation that is guided by intersectionality with community at the heart of everything we do, we are thrilled to support POWER UP as the Mentorship Partner led by Chi Chi Nwakodo. POWER UP is an industry first, a unique programme that will not only nurture and support, but also provide space for aspiring Black executives to talk about career barriers they have come across. Since its inception the we.grow /she.grows mentorship programme has worked with over 500 mentees and mentors, and we cannot wait to witness the success of this cohort as well.” Andreea Magdalina, shesaid.so Founder

“Having announced an exciting and diverse list of Year 1 Participants for the POWER UP Programme, we have started strongly with regular sessions and a very insightful month of induction. Offering bespoke support alongside network sessions will be crucial and we are so pleased to be working with
shesaid.so on the we.grow mentoring partnership. Thanks to Chi Chi and the team and to all the experienced mentors taking part to help power up all forty participants to shape the future of the music industry.” [Joe Frankland, CEO PRS Foundation & POWER UP Co-Founder]
