UK Talent supported by PRS Foundation, dominates Brit nominations 2022

The nominees for the 2022 Brit Awards have been announced with 11 #FundedByPRSF artists holding 22 nominations in total.

With the largest-ever field of nominations at the Brit awards, the “artist of the year” category has replaced “British male” and “British female”. New awards have been added this year to highlight excellence in genres: alternative/rock, hip-hop/grime/rap, dance, and pop/R&B.

Mercury prize winning South London rapper Dave returns – after winning the top Brit Award in 2020 for Mastercard Album Of The Year – with nominations for Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Hip Hop/Grime/Rap Act and (once again) Album of the Year.

Dave joins two other PRS Foundation grantees, both nominated for Artist of the Year and Album of the Year – this year’s MOBO award winning British-Nigerian rapper Little Simz and North Shields Singer Songwriter Sam Fender.

Little Simz has also been nominated for Best Hip Hop/Grime/Rap Act alongside AJ Tracey, Ghetts (and Dave) and for Best New Artist alongside Self Esteem and Joy Crookes. While Sam Fender has been also been nominated Best British Alternative/Rock Act alongside Glass Animals and Wolf Alice.

Wolf Alice have received further nominations for British Group, while Glass Animals have received further nominations for Song of the Year alongside Billen Ted for Wellerman. Further nominations go to Joy Crookes for Pop/R&B.
