Music Week’s Women in Music Awards 2022

It was a magical evening at Music Week’s Women in Music Awards, with many well deserved wins for PRS Foundation grantees, trustees, partners and friends.

Rock duo Nova Twins scooped the much-coveted New Artist Award sponsored by PRS for Music and supported by PRS Foundation at this year’s Awards ceremony. The Mercury Prize nominated vocalist/guitarist Amy Love and bassist Georgia South have been supported through PPL Momentum Music Fund, POWER UP and ISF (for SXSW 2022).

POWER UP partners The Black Music Coalition were recognised for their crucial work with the Campaigner award. The BMC includes a female leadership team: Char Grant, Afryea Henry-Fontaine, Sheryl Nwosu and Komali Scott-Jones.

US Keychange Ambassador, TuneCore Chief Executive Officer, Andreea Gleeson – who has been tasked with furthering Keychange’s mission amongst the music industry in the United States – won International Woman of the Year, while PRS Foundation Trustee YolanDa Brown was named Music Champion for her incredible work supporting young people and was presented with her award by none other than Elmo from Sesame Street! Elmo stole the show and the moment was marked with an impromptu singalong of ‘How Deep Is Your Love’.

Additionally, PPL Momentum Music Fund supported songwriter Jessica Agombar picked up the award for Music Creative.

PRS Foundation CEO Joe Frankland, presented PRS Foundation Talent Development Partner Come Play With Me the Company Award for Diversity in the Workplace. Come Play with Me is a non-profit music development organisation specialising in supporting people from marginalised communities.
