Girls I Rate announces winner of 2023 Future Hitmaker Competition
Multi-instrumentalist, DJ and Producer Seyi was selected as the winner of the 2023 Future Hitmaker award.
Created in collaboration with Carla-Marie Williams, the Future Hitmaker Award is powered by PRS Foundation’s Hitmaker Fund and supported by Spotify EQUAL. The prize also includes support from Audio-Technica, Novation, Benefit Cosmetics, FL Studio and complimentary studio time from Spotify UK.
Seyi was selected by award-winning songwriter Carla Marie Williams (known for her work with Beyoncé, Sean Paul, Craig David), also the founder of Girls I rate. The remaining panel was made up of songwriters Jin-Jin (recognized for collaborations with Jess Glynne, RAYE, Jax Jones) and Kamille (credited for contributions to artists like Dua Lipa, Little Mix, Kylie Minogue).
The competition culminated in a live event that was hosted at the Southbank Centre on Sunday 5th November, for 300 songwriters and producers and was hosted by Manny Norte from Capital Xtra and Reprezent Radio presenter C Cane. The event provided a platform for young women from diverse backgrounds to not only witness the announcement but also gain exclusive industry insights and network with key industry executives.
Founded in 2021 by Carla Marie Williams in partnership with the PRS Foundation, the Future Hitmaker Award aims to provide grant funding specifically tailored to support the development of young women involved in music, whether as songwriters, lyricists, or producers. The PRS Foundation is thrilled to contribute to Seyi’s musical journey and eagerly anticipates her continued success.
