SXSW : Top Tips for Artists

We welcomed SXSW grantees funded through the International Showcase fund to our pre-SXSW networking event on 5th February and shared some Top- Tips from our grants managers and partners. Find them below:

Westley Holdsworth – Grants & Programmes Manager, PRS Foundation

  • The International Showcase Fund supports creators to attend showcases worldwide inc. SXSW. To be eligible for ISF you do need to show that you have a good profile in the UK, interest and/or audiences in the new territory you want to showcase in and a good team to support you
  • We can only fund 90% of the costs

Becci Scotcher - Senior Grants and Programmes Manager, PRS Foundation

  • If you are on an ESTA, we do not recommend doing shows outside the SXSW official showcases. Make sure you understand what your visas allow you to do.
  • Be proactive at the SXSW Networking mixers to make the most of available showcase opportunities.

Una Johnston – Sr Business Manager SXSW

  • Sign-up for SXSW Express Passes and use them wisely for key sessions to cut waiting queue times
  • If you have additional support needs, please go straight to the accessibility desks and don’t wait in the registration queues

Jack Kenyon – Product Specialist, Allen & Heath

  • Production & backline will be provided on all of the British Music Embassy stages but feel free to bring your own instruments if you really want to – you can consider hiring equipment over there
