Paul Purgas explores the classic techniques of analogue tape production; Martin Green collabs. with the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain; Rakhi Singh, Vessel and NYX present a new work for vocal ensemble, electronics and violin; Keeley Forsyth delivers a powerful, innovative, audio-visual performance piece; and legendary sitarist Roopa Panesar collabs with jazz pianist Al MacSween on a piece that almost borderlands on ‘Paris Texas’…
NMC has re-issued ten additional tracks including works by Anna Meredith, Errollyn Wallen, Jason Yarde, Philip Venables’, Aidan O’Rourke & Kit Downes, Arlene Sierra and Gazelle Twin.
New Music Biennial presents new music across all genres, from classical and chamber opera, to jazz, folk and electronic. We aim to reach new audiences for contemporary music and encourage ideas for short works no longer than 15 minutes duration which could be performed in a range of settings. Once performed live, the piece is discussed on stage, before being reperformed for consideration – after audiences have considered the Composers’ conversation.
Please note – the youtube premiere features audio recordings only.
New Music Biennial 2025 will be presented in partnership with Bradford 2025 UK City of Culture, BBC Radio 3, NMC Recordings and with support from Arts Council of England – applications are open until 4 November 2024.
