Ezra Collective and English Teacher included in the BBC Sounds 2024 Longlist

Huge congratulations to the two PRS Foundation  grantees who have been included in the BBC Sounds Longlist.

  • Ezra Collective has received PRS Foundation support through PPL Momentum Music Fund, International Showcase Fund, Steve Reid Innovation Award and BBC Music Introducing partnership support

 

  • English Teacher has received PRS Foundation’s support through PPL Momentum Accelerator support in 2020 and a talent development bursary through PRS Foundation’s partnership with Glastonbury Festival and PRS for Music for the Emerging Talent Competition in 2022

 

Both PRS Foundation grantees included in this year’s BBC Sounds Longlist are also Mercury Prize Winners – and have received extensive support from PRS Foundation Talent Development Network organisations.

Ezra Collective Band leader and drummer, Femi Koleoso first received direct PRS Foundation support in 2016 as a recipient of the Steve Reid Innovation Award, through a partnership with the Steve Reid Foundation.

Ezra Collective went on to receive support in 2017 through the PPL Momentum Music Fund  before taking their sound to new audiences around the world with support through the International Showcase Fund for SXSW 2018, and through the BBC Introducing and PRS Foundation showcase at Winter Jazzfest 2019, hosted by Gilles Peterson. The award-winning band    also accessed early impactful   support from PRS Foundation Talent Development Network Organisation Tomorrows Warriors

English Teacher  received support  through PRS Foundation’s PPL Momentum Accelerator (Yorkshire) in 2020 before receiving a PRS Foundation talent development bursary as part of Glastonbury Emerging Talent Competition in 2022. Additionally, they  had early career support from and music released by  PRS Foundation Talent Development Network organisations Come Play with Me and Music:Leeds/ Launchpad. Following this crucial support, English Teacher went on to sign a deal with the legendary, Island Records
