Kae Tempest and founding PRS Foundation Trustee John Sweeney Celebrated at The Ivors Academy Honours 2025
This year saw the first Ivors Academy Honours celebrating the advocates and innovators who champion songwriters and composers, helping to build a stronger, fairer and more inclusive music industry.
Kae Tempest received an Ivors Academy Honour in recognition of his impactful artistry that sparks discussion, inspires change and gives voice to causes shaping society.
Kae Tempest received PRS Foundation support through the International Showcase Fund to perform at SXSW in 2016 and PPL Momentum Music Fund to support marketing and touring the UK in 2016.
The late John Sweeney, a founding Trustee of PRS Foundation back in 2000, was celebrated with an Ivors Academy Honour, where he was recognised as an honouree for “championing songwriters and composers.”
As Director of Membership at PRS for Music and one of PRS Foundation’s founding trustees 25 years ago, John played a pivotal role in shaping the Foundation’s early vision and impact. He also served as Chair during its formative years, helping to establish the organisation’s enduring commitment to supporting music creators from all backgrounds.
John’s legacy continues to inspire all of us at PRS Foundation and he will be deeply missed.
Both Kae and John were honoured alongside friend of PRS Foundation Kanya King CBE as well as RAYE, Sir Richard Branson, Jon Platt, Sir Chris Bryant MP and Catherine Manners.
