Latest PPL Momentum Music Fund grantees across the UK and PPL Momentum Sbardun | Accelerator grantees in Wales announced

- 5 exciting artists and 3 future industry professional based in Wales selected for targeted PPL Momentum Sbardun | Accelerator support
PRS Foundation, the UK’s leading charitable funder of new music and talent development, together with PPL, Creative Wales and Arts Council of Northern Ireland, reveal the latest artists that will receive support from the pioneering PPL Momentum Music Fund and in partnership with Arts Council of Wales the targeted PPL Momentum Sbardun | Accelerator support in Wales.
The artists who have been selected by a network of industry experts to receive PPL Momentum Music funding are:
- Brown Horse – Album campaign and live shows
- Burner – Record, promote and tour sophomore album
- Gwenno – UK tour
- Hyphen – Studio recording, visual content, and touring
- Loraine James – Marketing and touring fifth album
- Mia Koden – Developing new live project
- Namesbliss – Releasing and touring new album
- Olive Jones – UK headline tour in support of debut album
- TYLER LEWIS – Releasing and marketing new music
- Wings of Desire – New album release
This latest round features artists gaining recognition and critical acclaim across the UK, including Loraine James, whose album ‘Detached From The Rest Of You’ received a strong write-up in The Quietus; Gwenno, whose recent album ‘Utopia’ received four stars from The Line of Best Fit; and Brown Horse, whose album ‘Reservoir’ was awarded 9/10 by Americana UK.
PPL Momentum Music supported Gwenno said,

PPL Momentum Music Fund is the ground-breaking support for artists who have reached a crucial tipping point, have a team already in place and ready to take the next step in their careers. Managed by PRS Foundation, the PPL Momentum Music Fund awards grants of £5,000-£15,000 using funds from PRS Foundation, PPL, Creative Wales and Arts Council of Northern Ireland.

PRS Foundation’s PPL Momentum Accelerator offers grants of up to £5,000 to talented artists with a growing fanbase, currently working to establish a music industry team and based in targeted regions of the UK. The 4 Wales-based music creators receiving PPL Momentum Sbardun | Accelerator support which is in partnership with Arts Council of Wales are:
- Adjua – Releasing debut album
- Mared – Touring of EP
- MORN – Touring, recording and marketing
- Papaya Noon – Recording, mixing and master of second EP
- Slate – Production on new EP
Additionally, PPL Momentum Accelerator support of up to £2,000, which can include micro-grants, mentoring or other holistic support, is offered to future music industry professionals to develop their skills and careers. The 3 Wales-based industry professionals receiving support this round are:
- Owain Williams – Scaling up of independent bilingual platform Klust’s activity and launch a new label imprint in collaboration with Sain Records’ sister label, Sain69.
- Hedydd Ioan – Taking part in mentoring sessions and attending conferences to develop network and skills.
- Nico Dafydd – Building new connections within the industry and receiving mentorship from experts in the field to feed back into his label Fflach Cymunedol.
Since PPL Momentum Accelerator’s launch, 5 artists have progressed their career to a tipping point and become eligible to apply for and receive the PPL Momentum Music Fund after initially receiving PPL Momentum Accelerator support. Lucas Alexander and fellow Wales-based LEMFRECK and Luke RV as well as the two Yorkshire-based Downtown Kayoto and Chiedu Oraka all first picked up PPL Momentum Accelerator support early in their careers before successfully receiving PPL Momentum Music Fund support. Further recent Accelerator successes include English Teacher winning 2024’s Mercury Prize and BRITs Critic’s Choice 2026 winner Jacob Alon including Liverpool industry professional Abby Meysenburg in their management team.

PPL became headline sponsors of the Momentum Music Fund in February 2020. Since then, 265 talented music creators at tipping points in their careers have received this vital support to break through to the next level.
The first 50 rounds of the PPL Momentum Music Fund have supported:
- The creation of 329 albums (including dozens of top twenty chart placements)
- Support for over 300 UK tours and over 1,600 live dates
- Artist who have received PPL Momentum Music Fund have gone on to receive 7 Mercury Prizes, 13 MOBO Awards and 6 Brit Awards
PRS Foundation and Arts Council England initiated The Momentum Music Fund in 2013. Arts Council England originally established the need for this specific fund and supported the programme from 2013-18.
