Breaking an artist abroad – Industry Panel

Thursday 14 May 2015 at 3.00pm

The Old Courtroom

Industry-facing showcase events provide a crucial platform to artists looking to build global careers. But how do artists and their teams know which events will have the most impact? And what support and funding is available to make the most of significant opportunities? This panel takes a look at some of the best international showcasing events in the world, offering advice and case studies to help you to decide the best routes into key territories.
With guests: Evelyn Sieber (Reeperbahn Festival), Matt McDonald (CMJ Music Marathon), Nick O’Byrne (BIGSOUND, Australia) and Claire Southwick (Primitive Management/Transgressive Producers). Moderated by Vanessa Reed (PRS for Music Foundation).

Entry to the panel is available for all delegates.

PINS

PINS are Faith Holgate, Anna Donigan, Lois Macdonald and Sophie Galpin. They started playing together in early 2011, with Galpin replacing the original drummer in February 2013. PINS self-released their first songs (A. Eleventh hour / AA. Shoot you) through their own label ‘Haus of PINS’ in May 2012 along with a debut video for ‘Eleventh Hour’ directed by Sing. J. Lee. The tape sold out within a few hours and the video received a great deal of attention for the band. Later that year PINS worked with Bella Union to release their ‘Luvu4lyf’ EP on 10″ glitter vinyl – now sold out (500). The EP was followed by their first UK tour, and the band later signed with Bella Union, going on to release their first Album ‘Girls Like Us’. PINS new album ‘Wild Nights’ will be released on 8th June 2015 through Bella Union.
